Current research program of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Nephrology:

  • molecular basis of glomerular podocyte functions in health and disease (e.g., diabetes)
  • identification of factors involved in the regulation of glomerular filtration and albumin permeability of podocyte monolayers;
  • biochemical mechanisms underlying insulin resistance in podocytes.

The area of the research in which the candidate would participate:

  • investigation of key cellular processes contributing to the pathogenesis of diabetic kidney disease, with a particular focus on glomerular podocytes
  • assessment of glomerular permeability to albumin and metabolic studies in various animal models (rats and mice)

Description of job position activities:

  • active participation in the scientific activities of the Laboratory, the Institute, and the scientific community
  • active acquisition of research funding by preparation of grant applications in accordance with competition rules
  • analysis and interpretation of research data
  • preparation of manuscripts and submission for publication
  • preparation of conference presentations and representation of the Institute at scientific meetings
  • active participation in seminars, courses, and training

Obligatory requirements:

  • at least a Ph.D. degree in medical, biological or related sciences
  • at least 2 original articles in scientific journals indexed in JCR, including at least one of which the candidate
    is the first author, the first equal author or a corresponding author, published after obtaining the Ph.D. degree, but not containing the results of the Ph.D. thesis
  • experience in molecular biology, in working with primary cells cultures, animal study (relevant certificates or trainings)
  • documented active participation in national and international conferences and symposia
  • indicating the Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences as the first-place employer
  • fluency in English, both spoken and written

Additional requirements (desirable):

  • experience in microscopic techniques
  • knowledge of statistical and bioinformatic methods
  • creativity, readiness for new challenges, and ability to work in a team
